An opportunity has arisen to join the Nursing and Systems Improvement Directorate within Healthcare Improvement Scotland. This expert analyst post is located within the Healthcare Staffing Programme team whilst working closely with Scottish Government and the Chief Nursing Officers Department (CNOD). The post holder will be responsible for providing expert data analysis and measurement advice and expertise predominantly supporting the review and development of workload and workforce planning tools, templates and methodologies. 

The Healthcare Staffing Programme exists to support Boards to improve their workload and workforce planning, to help ensure they have the right people with the right skills in the right place at the right time. The team is spread across Scotland and is focused on supporting Boards with their legislative duties under the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act 2019. Furthermore, the Programme takes a lead on Healthcare Improvement Scotland’s duties within the legislation. 

The successful candidate should have an understanding of data and how it can be used to inform quality assurance and improvement work. They should be able to work on their own initiative, manage and prioritise a busy work schedule and demonstrate the ability to capture, analyse, interpret and present complex data in a way which enables ease of use and understanding by a range of audiences. They should have advanced Microsoft Excel experience, and/or expert knowledge of programming packages e.g. R, and a working knowledge of statistics. It is essential that you also have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
