The Family Nurse Partnership Grampian (FNP) is delighted to be recruiting a Family Nurse to join our Team. The Family Nurse Partnership (FNP) is an intensive, voluntary home visiting service offered to all eligible first time mothers aged 19 years and under at LMP, and also care experienced women up to age 25 from early pregnancy until the first child turns 2 years of age. This will be a 3 day Post and the post holder will predominantly be covering North Aberdeenshire, Huntly, Turriff, Banff, MacDuff area.  The post does not exclude the possibility of traveling elsewhere in Grampian as per service and client requirements.


The programme is underpinned by an internationally robust evidence base which shows it can improve health, social and educational outcomes in the short, medium and long term. The programme is delivered, alongside the universal Child Health Surveillance programme, by Family Nurses who also undertake the role of the Named Person for the child. All Family Nurses are required to undertake mandatory training, some of which is residential, spanning over approximately 18 months. However alongside the mandatory training, there is now an opportunity to undertake a masters level Professional Diploma in Family Nursing. The essential requirements for the Family Nurse Post are:

 • First level registered nurse or midwife with current NMC registration

 • Awarded a degree at the time of applying for the post.

 • Extensive practice experience of home visiting, working with families and young  people in the community.

 • Excellent communication skills and an ability to develop rapid therapeutic relationships with young people.

 • A strong desire to improve outcomes for children and young people

 • A working knowledge of national and local polices to protect children including Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and legislation relating to children and young people.

Mandatory FNP Training dates (subject to change) some of which are residential: 10-14th March 2025, 5th May 2024, 4-5th June 2025, 19th August 2025, 28-30th October 2025; 15th September 2026, 7-8th October 2026.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
