Who We Are

NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.

The Workforce Directorate works at a national level to support the delivery of NES’s strategic plan and is a key partner to the delivery of Scottish Government priorities for the health and social care workforce. It also provides a comprehensive People and Organisational Development strategy and service for the people who work for NES and externally.

The HR Trainee Services team is central to supporting a consistent employment experience for Doctors and Dentists in Training across NHS Scotland. Under the ‘lead employer’ arrangements, the team provides HR services as an Employing Board and a Placement Board (e.g Onboarding, Payroll, Salary Setting, Maternity/Paternity/Shared and Absence) and in the delivery of ‘Once for Scotland’ activities including Skilled Worker Sponsorship, PVG checking and national Trainee Recruitment & Selection.

The Opportunity

We are looking for 2 Senior Officers to join our talented and growing teams, either within HR Trainee Services or HR Business Support Operations, to support the delivery of a national recruitment and employment programme for our Doctors and Dentists in Training (DDITs) across NHS Scotland within the HR Trainee Services team and to support delivery of first class customer service for core staff across the organisation within the HR Business Support Operations team.

In this exciting and varied role as Senior Officer within HR Trainee Services, you will collaborate across multiple workstreams and organisations and have a direct impact on the HR Trainee Services team achieving and delivering their programme priorities.

Within HR Business Support Operations, the Senior Officer will cover a portfolio of directorates, with responsibility for timely and accurate payroll and contracts processing and for providing first level advice across a full range of policy areas, achieved through meticulous planning and tracking of work tasks.

Do you enjoy working at pace and being adaptive to an ever-changing environment?

Do you enjoy making a difference, influencing improved ways of working, and sharing innovative ideas?

Do you want to play a key role in delivering excellent HR support?

Working in the HR Trainees Services team or HR Business Support Operations, you will have the opportunity to bring your unique skills and experience to the table, collaborating across multiple workstreams to provide an excellent service to our staff.

Does this sound like you?
