NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Social Worker to join the Inverness West Urban Social Work team to share your expertise as an experienced practitioner, and directly assist the Social Work Team Manager with their duties and responsibilities.

This permanent, full-time position of 37 hours per week will enable the right candidate an opportunity to be part of a fully integrated, busy team which provides a multi-disciplinary approach to assessing the needs of individuals, their families, and carers. Applicants should be a qualified Social Worker and have at least two years' post-qualifying experience working in Adult Care. You should also be able to demonstrate a strong track record in collaborative working.

Working alongside the Social Work Team Manager, you will provide leadership, advice, support and guidance to social workers and social care staff within your District Team to meet professional standards and service objectives as set out within the terms of legislation, policy, guidance, and delegated responsibilities.

Applicants must be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council on the ‘Social Worker’ part of the Register and hold a qualification that is recognised by the SSSC as being equivalent to the Diploma in Social Work (DipSW); this is an essential requirement.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
