Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday-Friday

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

This post is advertised as an Annex 21 post working towards a band 6 physiotherapist role. You will start as Band 5 initially and then move to Band 6 after two years training. You should have a minimum of a year’s experience as a band 5 physiotherapist and be willing to work in a training post to gain the experience to move into a band 6 role within the team within a 2 year period. You would then work as a specialist respiratory physiotherapist working within the on-call team.

The Community Respiratory Team is a dynamic and responsive multidisciplinary team (MDT) that aims to support patients with moderate to severe COPD within Glasgow City in their own homes. The team is comprised of Physiotherapists, Nurses, OT, Pharmacist, Rehabilitation Support Worker, Business Support and Leadership roles.

It is an evidence based service with the MDT supporting three distinct intervention pathways:

• Prevention of hospital admission (support for acute exacerbation)

• Early supported discharge

• Chronic disease management (rehabilitation and self-management)

After the training period and, once in a band 6 role, the post holder will act independently and use their own initiative within the bounds of existing knowledge and skills. They will work autonomously within their scope of practice to make clinical judgements regarding patient prioritisation and management.

You will link with the Respiratory Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team, and hospital based respiratory assessment services/respiratory nurse specialists.

You should have a degree in Physiotherapy and have current HCPC registration with 1 year experience as a band 5 and an interest in working in a respiratory team with COPD patients.

The shift pattern for this post is 29.7 hours over Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm. This post requires membership of Disclosure Scotland's PVG

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.

Candidates should provide original and authentic responses to all questions within the application form. The use of artificial intelligence (AI), automated tools, or other third-party assistance to generate, draft, or significantly modify responses is strongly discouraged. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in your application being withdrawn from the application process.
