Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Neonatologist to cover Maternity leave in the Neonatal Unit, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, NHS Grampian.

The Neonatal Unit, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital (AMH) and the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital (RACH) provide the principal hospital services for newborns and children in the Grampian Region and the Orkney and Shetland Islands (population approx 590,000).

The Neonatal Unit is located within the Maternity Hospital which is on the main Hospital site at Foresterhill along with Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital and the University Aberdeen Medical School. Plans are well underway for the build of the new Baird Family Hospital which will be operational by 2025 for delivery of Women’s Service and Neonatal Care in Aberdeen and North of Scotland Region.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic, motivated team in the Neonatal Unit here in Aberdeen. We welcome your experience to contribute to our services including ECHO, POCUS, Therapeutic Hypothermia, NO and HFO ventilation.

The unit is the Northern hub within the ScotStar transport service, providing regular cover for Shetland and Orkney, Inverness by Ambulance, Fixed Wing and Helicopter.

We are looking for someone who can bring new and innovative ideas to support our continuing programme of improvement within the unit and can contribute to the day to day running of this busy unit. There are many opportunities in Clinical Services, Teaching, Audit and Research within a team of Consultants, Specialty Doctors, Middle and Junior Grade Medical Staff, ANNPs and Nursing and Midwifery teams.

Full time posts are currently 10 programmed activities per week.  However, other more flexible arrangements, such as part-time, job share etc, will be favourably considered.
