Assistant Director of Finance - NHS Ayrshire and Arran

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join NHS Ayrshire & Arran as Assistant Director of Finance.  Reporting directly to the Director of Finance the post holder will manage payroll, accounts payable and cash functions as well as the national finance systems team.

The postholder will maintain the highest levels of corporate governance and probity in NHS Ayrshire and Arran’s financial transactions.  This will include monthly financial reporting to Scottish Government Health Directorates (SGHD) as well as the production of statutory annual accounts. You will work closely with internal and external auditors, Counter Fraud Service, procurement and board staff in ensuring compliance with Standing Financial Instructions.

Driving efficiency in transaction processing including payroll and accounts payable through national, regional and Health Board working, as well as improving internal working with partners such as procurement and human resources, you will deliver excellent service to all other NHS Boards through the National Finance Systems Team.

As Assistant Director of Finance, you will support various Board committees including Audit and Risk Committee, Endowment Committee and Endowment Trustees.

In addition to a strong background in Finance, substantial post qualifying practical experience at senior management level in a large complex organisation, is required, preferably within the NHS or other public sector organisation.

The postholder will be Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB) professionally qualified and a record of continuous professional development.  Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills are required, as well as a creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
