The Post:
Based in Euro Central, Motherwell, NHS Scotland Counter Fraud Services (CFS) has the remit to protect NHS Scotland from fraud and other financial crime. To achieve this, CFS has been established as a single national service which delivers through three functional teams; Prevention, Detection (including Intelligence) and Investigation, a PDI model. CFS provides a comprehensive, integrated and professional service to NHS Scotland by proactively identifying and undertaking investigations of suspected fraud.
The Candidate:
We are seeking three suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join our counter fraud teams. With an ability to work over multiple teams the successful candidates will be placed within the Prevention, Detection or Investigation team dependent on the most suitable role for the individual. Below is a brief description of each function.
Prevention Team - you will bring a proficiency in risk, ideally gained from working to counter fraud in either a commercial or public sector environment. Your role will include working to support health boards in identifying, assessing, measuring and managing their fraud and corruption risks and provide advice to NHS bodies on measures to strengthen their control of fraud and corruption. As effective communication is key to deterring fraud, some knowledge, skills, and qualifications in communications would be an advantage to work in this team.

Detection Team (Intelligence Bureau) - having experience of the National Intelligence Model, you will principally be engaged in the receipt, development, handling and dissemination of allegations of fraud, bribery and corruption. You will also be responsible for the development of a range of intelligence products, analysing and developing information received from a range of internal and external sources. You will also deputise for the Intelligence Manager.

Investigation Team - you will be carrying out significant elements of criminal investigations such as planning, interviewing witnesses and suspects, attending searches, recovering and handling evidence and reporting. You will assist more experienced investigators dealing with serious and complex cases. You will have gained a working knowledge of criminal law in either a law enforcement or public sector environment and have experience of reporting cases directly to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location and Working Pattern:
Eurocentral, Dovecote Road, Motherwell, ML1 4GP.
Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
