Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic professional for the role of Associate Director of Healthcare Staffing and Care Assurance. This unique, high-profile, and challenging national role demands exceptional strategic and managerial leadership to drive continuous improvement in care across Scotland. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the quality and safety of care across Scotland. You will work with a dedicated team of professionals committed to continuous improvement and excellence in healthcare.

This senior level post will oversee strategic planning and delivery of national improvement and assurance programmes, will influence and develop national and organisational policies, ensuring alignment with the Health and Care (Staffing) (Scotland) Act (2019). Working with NHS boards, Health and Social Care Partnerships, Scottish Government, professional and staff organisations, and improvement experts to influence the quality and safety of care delivery in Scotland. With the ability to navigate complex political environments, providing advice and constructive challenge to Scottish Government policy leads and senior leaders.

Acting autonomously within HIS’s legislative powers to protect patients, service users and maintain public safety. You will provide expert professional and clinical advice for programmes across the organisation, including HIS’s Emerging Concerns Group.

Previous proven experience in a senior strategic and managerial role within healthcare is a must. With a strong understand of national healthcare policies and legislative frameworks. An exceptional leader with ability to work autonomously and make high-level decisions to ensure patient and public safety. You will have prior experience in developing and implementing quality management approaches across professional disciplines.
