Locum Specialty Registrar (LAS StR Higher) - Orthopaedics and Trauma (with option of experience in the Emergency Department)
£1706.66 per week inclusive of out of hours allowance (pro rata for part-time)
Available for 6 months duration, commencing February 2025. Full Time or Part Time,

The Role
You would gain wide experience in Orthopaedics & Trauma under the supervision of Consultants and Specialty Doctors. You will be attached to one of the Consultants, with opportunity to attend all ward rounds, clinics and theatre sessions with your Consultant. Borders General Hospital is a modern and well-equipped 284 bed DGH serving the rural Borders area in South East Scotland, approximately 36 miles from Edinburgh.
This post is aimed at post foundation doctors at ST2/ST3 level who have completed a foundation medical training programme (or have gained equivalent additional clinical experience). Full GMC registration and licence to practice is essential. You may be seeking further experience of a surgical specialty in which you have a longer term interest (e.g. future entry into specialty training / general practice specialty training), or to provide a supplement to support other career options longer term. This post is not a recognised training grade but may be the right opportunity for you to develop and evidence clinical and professional competence to assist overall CV development
There is Board wide commitment to training and professional development and opportunities exist for experience in Medical Education (specifically in Simulation), Management and Leadership, Clinical Skills and Quality Improvement.
