Job Advert

Are you interested in being a clinical perfusionist within a centre providing adult CPB, neonatal/paediatric CPB, ECMO, short term VADs and Long term VADs as an integral part of your role?

We are looking for a motivated and experienced clinical perfusionist, keen to take up these challenging roles with high levels of responsibility and autonomy.  There is a considerable degree of multidisciplinary working within the service and you will play a vital role within these.

You must be a motivated, committed and flexible working accredited clinical perfusionist and fully registered with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists of Great Britain and Ireland.

The West of Scotland Clinical Perfusion service provides support to both the NHS Golden Jubilee University National adult Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.  There is an annual workload of around 1400 adult cases, including cardiac transplantation and complex adult congenital work.   In addition, there are around 200 neonate/paediatric cardiac surgical CPB procedures per year.

There are busy neonatal, paediatric, adult ECMO and short-term VAD services across the two sites, with the clinical perfusionists playing an integral role within these. Clinical perfusionists also have the responsibility of managing all technical aspects of the LTLVAD patients, including training of patient/carers on the device, scrubbing and participation at the implant, with follow up reviews at outpatient clinics.

Consideration will be given to recently qualified clinical perfusionists onto AFC 7 and working through their competencies to the experienced level at AFC 8A.

Out of hours on call rota commitment is essential.

For further information or to arrange an informal visit, please contact Patrick Campbell, Head of Clinical Perfusion Science, via email on patrick.campbell@gjnh.scot.nhs.uk.
