Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Surgical First Assistant at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do:

You will work within the main theatre complex and be part of the nursing/ODP team to deliver peri-operative nursing care.

The SFA will have completed the appropriate course.

The surgical first assistant provides continuous, competent and dedicated surgical assistance to the operating surgeon throughout the surgery.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Must be registered with the NMC
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to the role
  • Previous experience as a scrub practitioner
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through post-registration courses
  • Completed a recognised Surgical First Assistant qualification for registered nurses
  • Ability to work using own initiative as part of a multi professional team.

Interpersonal and effective communication skills
