The shift patterns for these positions are:
2 posts x 20hrs working 2 nights over 7, 2200-0830hrs including public holidays
1 post x 30 hrs working 3 nights over 7, 2200-0830hrs including public holidays
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

Role of the department:
The District nursing team provides valuable care in peoples homes. Their expert leadership, clinical skills and knowledge enables them to support people to manage their long term conditions and maximise their independence. The District Nurse team also make a difference every day to the lives of the people they visit through the provision of complex care particularly when a person is nearing the end of their life and dying at home. District Nurse teams also work closely with other services within their community and support other professionals / agencies.
The job the applicant will be doing:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) to join Inverclyde District Nursing Out of Hours team. The HCSW will support, assist and have work allocated to them from the District Nurse and Registered Nurses to ensure the service provides effective and holistic nursing care to residents within our community in their own homes.
The post holder will support nursing staff deliver an overnight service, in particular, to those patients who have palliative end of life care needs and at times be required to work unsupervised. Therefore, it is essential the post holder have palliative care experience within a healthcare environment.
This post will evolve as the service develops so we require the post holder to be dynamic, adaptable and able to progress with service demands. The post holder must be an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills, have a genuine interest in palliative care and working in a busy Out of Hours nursing team.
Skills / Qualifications:
A Health Care Support Worker with significant palliative care experience is essential. Community Nursing experience would be advantageous. The successful candidate must hold, or be willing to work towards completion of the SVQ level 3 programme. The successful candidate will also be required to achieve the mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland and comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
As part of NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde’s pre-employment checking for all appointed candidates, an up to date Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme / Disclosure Scotland is required / will be carried out prior to start date. A full driving licence/ car owner essential.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
