A rare and exciting opportunity for the post of Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Information and Governance has arisen within NHS GGC. This is a senior post with responsibility for several programmes of work that support safe and effective medicines use across NHS GGC. The services provided cover medicines planning support for the Board, medicines policy including access to new medicines policy, formulary and the adult therapeutic handbook development and maintenance, enquiry answering and proactive medicines information, evaluation of clinical effectiveness and supporting risk management and the safer use of medicines agenda. These services are delivered by 4 highly performing teams for which you will have overall leadership and management responsibilities.

You will work autonomously but within a supportive governance structure and both across pharmacy services and with other key stakeholders within NHS GGC. Responsible for the strategic planning of a complex, governance framework that supports pharmaceutical care across NHSGG&C. The post holder will provide expert professional advice and support the Clinical Governance agenda across Pharmacy Service. Working with multi-disciplinary senior leaders across NHSGGC to shape clinical governance structures and strategy across NHSGGC.

Responsible for strategic development, leadership and implementation of the multi-site, highly complex and diverse Medicines Information Service, , ensuring that the service remains fit for purpose and meets the needs of the NHSGGC Statutory advisory committees (i.e. ADTC, Clinical Governance Forum), stakeholders, users and patients.

The post holder will lead on clinical governance and safer user of medicines agenda across pharmacy services, Ensuring NHSGGC Pharmacy Services medicines information and governance agenda meets national, regional and local priorities. The post holder will oversee the medicines planning agenda for Acute services in NHSGGC, to inform NHSGGC financial plan in the form of horizon scanning for new medicines and the growth of existing medicines. The post holder will develop a research portfolio in relation to the safer use of medicines agenda and, although not essential there may be the opportunity to provide a small clinical commitment depending on the successful applicant.
