Job Summary
Under the supervision of the IPU Charge Nurse/ Day Services Team Leader and Staff Nurses and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team the post holder will actively participate in the delivery of evidence based person-centred care.
Main Responsibilities
- Carry out individual patient care needs, ensuring safe, effective person centred care is carried out with dignity and respect under the supervision of staff nurse.
- Work collaboratively with all members of the MDT ensuring effective communication and the delivery of high standards of care.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
- SVQ 2 in Health Care or equivalent, or evidence of working towards this qualification. (Essential)
Knowledge/Experience
- A proven interest in palliative care. (Essential)
- Recent experience within a Health care environment as a health care assistant. (Essential)
- Experience and knowledgeable in nursing care and all activities of daily living. (Essential)
Ability/Skills
- Confident and competent in use of moving and handling equipment. (Essential)
- Able to document care notes in a variety of forms. (Essential)
- Effective communication skills. (Essential)
- Motivated and keen to continue to develop own practice. (Essential)
- Confidence in own skills/abilities and able to escalate to appropriate staff member if required. (Essential)
Personal Qualities
- Compassionate/empathetic. (Essential)
