The Role

The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service to a Physician/General Surgeon/Dental Consultant, Nurse Specialist or group of Physicians/Surgeons/Dental Consultants, Associate Specialists, Nurse Specialist and PAM Specialists. You will be Responsible for the audiotyping (touch-typing, shorthand typing) of clinical correspondence, ensuring these are typed within agreed timescales, You will be also be responsible for maintaining a pending system for all results and ensuring these are seen by the appropriate consultants and you will deal with telephone and face to face inquiries from all staff groups, patients, relatives, carers, providing information, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.

What we'll need you to bring

  • HNC/SVQ lll in Secretarial Studies/Business Administration or equivalent experience.

  • Understanding of a range of work procedures, some of which are non­ routine requiring an intermediate level of theoretical knowledge.

  • Knowledge of the range of secretarial procedures which includes advanced keyboard skills.

  • Proficient in use of software systems.

  • Understanding of medical terms; RSA3 and knowledge acquired through further experience.

  • Good organisational and communication skills.

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Relevant secretarial experience in an equivalent position
  • Proficient IT skills which include full working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and work on own initiative
