The Role

You will be a Professional and clinical lead for all nursing services, within area of responsibility and designated nursing profession specific lead (i.e. Public Health, Long-term Conditions, Mental Health and Learning Disability Nursing) as required across NHS Lanarkshire. Expert practitioner, providing professional leadership, support and advice within the multi-disciplinary team across NHS Lanarkshire to ensure high standards of nursing care. You will lead the development and implementation of a programme of clinical audit and research activity within the context of clinical governance. You will contribute to the development and operation of nursing/service strategy across NHS Lanarkshire: the major impact of which will be the increase in quality of patient care and service quality. Strengthen nursing contribution and professional decision making in the development of nursing and interagency partnerships and ensure that National nursing policy and strategy is included in the planning and implementation of service redesign/modernisation including partnership agendas and Provide advice, support, and contribute to the education of staff, as appropriate, within a ward/ service.

Will have line management responsibility when operating as senior manager on call or as part of an organisational delegated service responsibility.

What we'll need you to bring

  • Registered Nurse with valid NMC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Masters Level
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent framework
  • Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development
  • Professional, leadership and managerial experience within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the health care agenda.
  • Experience of assessing training needs
  • Experience of resource management i.e. financial; human; capital
  • Experience in service planning, project management and performance monitoring/reporting
  • Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and analysis/interpretation of related data
  • A proven track record in sound and effective leadership. Ability to think strategically, corporately and act as a team player
  • A proven track record in developing innovative solutions in meeting organisational requirements and motivating staff to affect change
  • A proven track record in developing teams/services and integrated solutions to complex and challenging problems
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
  • Car driver, with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence (required to travel between sites)

It would be great if you also have

  • Formal leadership development SPQ District nursing or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in working in a community environment

  • Previous experience working within district nursing teams
