This is an opportunity for a highly experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to join the Diagnostics Laboratories team as Lead Quality Manager, working within accredited Medical Laboratories which provide a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside, North-East Fife, South Grampian and specialist diagnostics and clinical services across all NHS Scotland Health Boards.

The Diagnostics Laboratories are based in Ninewells Hospital, a large Teaching hospital and Medical School in Dundee, and a multidisciplinary laboratory at Perth Royal Infirmary (PRI). The department is a UKAS accredited Medical Laboratory and holds IBMS Training and NES training approval. The laboratories at Ninewells and Perth both operate a 24/7 service every day of the year.

This post holder will be responsible for managing and leading on all aspects of Quality Management at Ninewells and PRI Diagnostics Laboratories and must have previous experience of UKAS accreditation of Medical Laboratories to ISO:15189 standard.

The post holder will have a considerable degree of autonomy and will be responsible for delivering professional, scientific and quality leadership. They will work as part of the Diagnostics Laboratories Executive Team and report directly to the Clinical Laboratory Manager. They will also work closely with Clinical and Governance Leads, Service Managers, Training team, Quality Managers and Health and Safety Officers. The post will be based across both Ninewells and Perth sites.

To be considered for this position, you must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, have extensive Quality Management experience, proven leadership skills and considerable working experience at a senior level within one or more Medical Laboratory disciplines in a hospital environment. The post holder must hold an MSc or equivalent M-Level Qualification (SCQF 11) and have the knowledge and skills to ensure full service compliance with ISO15189:2022 standard, MHRA and HSE regulatory requirements.

You must be a good communicator with proven skills to lead on Quality Management across the department and deliver advice, training and support to a wide range of laboratory staff including support staff, pre-registration BMS, university placement students, post-graduate, Clinical and Medical staff.
