The shift pattern for this position is Mon – Fri 09.00 – 17.00.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Epilepsy Service, we are looking for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist managing patients with complex epilepsy the post will have components of learning disability. The post holder is responsible for developing and implementing highly specialist clinical nursing assessment offering specialist assessment treatment and review of epilepsy patients.

The post holder will assist in the development of range of high quality education packages on all aspects of the treatment and management of epilepsy in learning disability working in collaboration with neurology epilepsy team, educator and educators within primary teams, both internally and to partnership organizations, and will contribute to the wider training agenda regionally.

The post holder is responsible for implementing advising on and monitoring standards of epilepsy care for learning disability nurses liaising with community LD and other professionals at tier 3 and partnership organizations, this is achieved through actively undertaking clinical audit and research and developing evidence based approaches.

You are required to have had significant relevant experience within Epilepsy and have the knowledge and skill set to competently perform the necessary technical/invasive/physical & psychosocial aspects of care for this defined patient group, neurology experience would be advantageous although not desirable. As part of a clinical team under the leadership of the Lead Nurse you will be responsible for working in an interdisciplinary manner to provide safe and effective care for people with Epilepsy working jointly with the acute Epilepsy team, including targeted patient groups including pre-treatment counselling and screening, monitoring of therapy/clinical response, urgent intervention and admission. You must have the ability to work independently and possess excellent communication skills to manage the collaborative telephone advice lines / triage of incoming calls, interface with hospital clinicians and general practitioners, delivery of clinical support with a high level of ITC skills. This post will support & facilitate change for the service to improve patient outcomes and ensure safe, effective and person centred care is delivered at every opportunity. The hours of this post are 37hrs Mon – Fri. It is essential that you are a Registered Adult Nurse with the NMC with significant post registration experience within the relevant speciality.

You would be required to have a minimum of 5 years post registration experience with Band 6 experience, LD experience is desirable but not essential, training opportunities will be offered.
