Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Service

Band 5 – Community (Edinburgh)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified speech and language therapists to join the Community SLT team in Edinburgh. We have a skill-mixed team of SLTs and SLT Assistants working in the 4 geographical community teams in Edinburgh.
The post-holder will be based at one of the Edinburgh Health Centres and work in the local Learning Community areas with the full range of community cases. Each Learning Community has at least one named SLT who predominantly supports that geographical patch. However, the skill-mixed team provide support across the range of schools as/when needs arise. Learning Communities contain Enhanced Support Bases and/or Special Schools. The post holder may also be asked to work within these Additional Support Needs Educational settings.
You will be an innovative and flexible therapist with experience of working with children and young people with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs.
You will be surrounded by a friendly, experienced and committed Speech and Language Therapy team within the City of .
The Lothian speech and language therapy service is innovative and supportive. It is committed to the principles of clinical governance to provide a high quality service focused on the child’s needs. Support is provided for therapists in district based and clinically focused teams. All therapists have a personal development plan and are encouraged to extend their skills through a variety of CPD activities.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
