An opportunity has arisen within the Mid Argyll Community Hospital and Integrated Care Centre and Community Nursing team for a part time MacMillan Nurse Specialist position. This is initially a fixed term contract for 6 months.

Applications would be considered for a Band 6 development role.

This post is essential in supporting people and their families through the most challenging times of their lives. This post will provide expertise and knowledge in supporting patients who are receiving cancer treatments and symptom control for this along with education and support for people who are coming to the end of life.

This post holder will offer support to palliative patients with complex needs and will support the medical and nursing staff of the hospital and the community team.

The patient’s choice will be central to offering choices to patients about treatments ad paces of care. Creating positive and therapeutic relationships with patients and their carers is essential

This post is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team within the locality. The post holder will attend the palliative care Gold standard meetings.

This post also provides education and training to the community and hospital nursing, medical, social work and AHP teams.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
