Services across NHS Golden Jubilee are expanding, including the opening of the new Surgical Centre containing 5 new orthopaedic theatres and 5 new endoscopy procedure rooms which will significantly increase capacity for orthopaedic surgery, diagnostic procedures, endoscopy and clinical training. As a result, an exciting opportunity has emerged for a new Consultant in Clinical Microbiology to join the existing team to support the Microbiology service within the hospital, and applications are welcome from registered medical practitioners.
The Microbiology Department at NHS Golden Jubilee provides clinical microbiology services to the hospital and currently processes approximately 65,000 specimens per year. The successful applicant will be involved in the day-to-day running of the Medical Microbiology diagnostic laboratory service, maintenance of existing services and for future development of the service. The post holder will be one of three Consultants based at NHS Golden Jubilee, responsible for the provision of a Microbiology and Prevention and Control of Infection service. The successful candidate will be supported to undertake CPD opportunities in conjunction with the wider Microbiology network both nationally and internationally as appropriate to role.
The appointment is for 8 PAs, with no out of hours or on call work. The post is subject to the terms and conditions for medical Consultant grade staff under the new Consultant contract (Scotland). Applicants must have full GMC registration and a licence to practice. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or eligibility for specialist registration (CESR) or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview.
Hybrid working is possible subject to mutual agreement. Opportunities for research within the applicant’s job plan can be agreed where appropriate.
