The shift pattern for this position

Experienced Data Analyst (Advanced) to take a lead role in the development of measures for improvement and provide specialist information advice to Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services (GADRS). The Advanced Data Analyst will: • take a lead role in turning data into information to enhance GADRS quality and performance reporting. • be a key member of the GADRS Primary Care Facilitation Team. • lead on specific information projects and the development of relevant data sets to appropriately reflect the needs of GADRS priorities. • provide the qualitative and quantitative information requested from Public Health Scotland for an increasing variety of standards and performance targets set out by Scottish Government including waiting times, substance use treatment targets and implementation of the MAT Standards. • contribute to the overall development and evaluation of the service. • project manage key pieces of work associated with the above remits. • have a remit for Boardwide NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde ADRS treatment data, psychology and psychiatry data. Demands of the post will include: • Working across differing systems which have little or no interface to produce evidence and performance data which can be formatted as evidence which can allow planning of services

• Ensuring the staff within the post holder’s teams have the technical and managerial skills and competencies required both to deliver the GADRS work, managing conflicting demands as necessary. • Ensuring that all statistics, irrespective of their complexity, are provided accurately and are interpreted and presented in a way which enables ease of use and understanding by their target audience (whether general management, clinical or public interests, inside or outside the HSCP). • Presenting contentious or challenging data which may highlight missed targets, deadlines or areas requiring improvement. • Developing, adapting and implementing to respond to the significant increasing demands for quality information to support decision making and planning. • Adhering to deadlines and ensuring that others involved in the process maintain their deadlines, particularly as the post holder will not have line management responsibility for local data and information staff • Ensuring that improvements are sustained and best practice promoted Skills and Experience required: Essential • Specialist information management knowledge at masters level or equivalent comprising a balance of practical experience with theoretical knowledge • Knowledge of systems analysis, design and implementation including: • knowledge of hardware/software life cycles • ability to capture requirements, analyse, and implement IT systems • ability to conceptually model and create database • IT systems skills including • Advanced Microsoft Office User, in particular Excel and Access • Experience of data manipulation application (ie Business Objects) • Data Management Skills including • highly numerate • collecting, interpreting, analysing, presenting and evaluating data • using file formatting, in particular, CSV • programming languages, in particular, SQL, VisualBasic and HTML • Ability to design and develop tools and systems to enhance service delivery • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to explain complex information and influence professionals from a range of backgrounds • Excellent networking skills & proven ability to develop and maintain relationships • Ability to deliver training and give formal presentations to a wide range of professionals • Ability to work autonomously, direct own work area and also as part of dynamic teams • Ability to work within tight deadlines Desirable • Full driving licence • Experience of NHS systems • IT network infrastructures and hardware/software deployment • Experience of working with addictions services • Broad overview of health policy in Scotland • Project management experience • Experience in the development of toolkit materials
