NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
There is one permanent, fulltime post of 37 hours per week and one permanent, part-time post of 33.3 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Sunday. A 24 hour shift system will be in operation.
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Applications are invited from individuals with a scientific background for the above post in the Haematology/Blood Transfusion Laboratory. This is a busy and progressive department based in the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in the blood transfusion section of a busy department within a large teaching hospital.
Suitable candidates must 3 Highers at Grade C or above, which should include either Chemistry or Biology together with Maths, or SVQ3 in relevant science subject, or completion of modern apprenticeship in life sciences, or completion of equivalent accredited education / learning.
Knowledge and experience of laboratory work would be an advantage but full training will be provided. Keyboard skills are essential. Main duties will include the transportation of blood and blood products to satellite blood fridges in the Queen
University Hospital and for Children.
You will be required to achieve the mandatory Induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in and to comply with the Code of Conduct throughout your employment.
