An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Adult) with experience of supporting people who use substances to join our busy Drug and Alcohol Service. The post holder will independently assess, plan and implement evidence based treatment programmes in collaboration with the client group and in close partnership with other agencies. As well as providing harm reduction advice. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate their personal commitment to providing a flexible service to meet local need, which puts clients strengths first and foremost while fostering an environment where the client can be proactive in working towards their recovery.

We work in a community based supportive environment with a strong commitment to personal and professional development and this post specifically will offer you the opportunity to learn from colleagues and to develop your own skills to work with people who use substances.
You should hold Independent and Supplementary Non-Medical Prescribing qualification or provide a commitment to achieve relevant qualification if not already in place.
The applicant would be required to travel efficiently and effectively to undertake the role. A driving licence is essential and a pool car may be available, however, applicants should have access to their own vehicle for work purposes, if required.
Relocation package may be available to the successful candidate.
This is a permanent 37 hours per week post, worked in accordance with service requirements.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
