Due to service expansion an exciting opportunity has arisen for Band 5 Registered Nurses to join our growing Orthopaedic elective surgery unit within Gartnavel General Hospital. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the elective in-patient team, providing high quality nursing care for those undergoing elective orthopaedic procedures. You will have delegated responsibilities for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care. You will work to support the nursing team in the provision of safe and effective clinical practice and assist in enhancing the patient experience. You will work collaboratively within a well-established and supportive multi-disciplinary team to meet standards in elective orthopaedic care. You will be supported to develop your knowledge and understanding of care of the elective surgical patient through mentoring and delivery of in-house training. Within the department we offer a comprehensive programme of education and support to enhance your development within the specialty. You will demonstrate a willingness to undertake in-service training in order to gain competency in areas such as pain management & wound care.
You will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse and should be able to work on your own merit supported by the wider nursing team.
You should be educated to degree level or equivalent. Experience in a surgical specialty is desirable but not essential.
