Clinical Fellow: Medicine for Older Adults – Fixed Term for 12 Months from August 2025
Up to 30 Hours per Week
Intermediate Care based initially at Carrickstone Care Home, with input to Hospital at Home / Community Services.
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) is looking to appoint a Clinical Fellow for a period of one year from August 2025. You will join a team of Consultants, Specialty Doctors and multi-disciplinary professionals; a team who have a significant track record in delivering service change and in quality improvement for patients living with Frailty in North Lanarkshire.
The department provides services across four inpatient wards at UHM and intermediate care facilities at three sites across Lanarkshire, including outpatients, stroke, frailty assessment, movement disorder, falls and orthogeriatrics, and hospital at home. The team work in tandem with General Medicine colleagues to provide daily input to medical receiving for frail older adults within our dedicated 24 bed Frailty Receiving Unit.
The successful candidate will support services across our intermediate care beds, primarily based at Carrickstone Care Home, but flexibility will be required in order to provide cover to the other two intermediate care sites if needed. There will also be opportunity to input to the Hospital at Home and Primary Care Frailty and Care Home MDT services.

Individuals who have trained out with the UK process will be supported in this role where there will be a robust induction period that will help individuals integrate into the role. Our induction will extend to a two weeks softer landing period for successful candidates dependent on your experience.
Accommodation may be available for those who reside out with NHS Lanarkshire area for an initial period of 3 months to allow successful candidates to relocate to the area.
