We are recruiting for Qualified Ambulance Technicians and Paramedics in Grampian. There are vacancies in the following ambulance station locations: Aberdeen, Ballater, Fraserburgh, Inverurie, Peterhead and Stonehaven.
The Role
Qualified Ambulance Technicians and Paramedics provide immediate care right across Scotland, often to people in their most vulnerable state and in very difficult and challenging environments. As a result, you will be required to show compassion and empathy and be able to deal with the difficult situations that we have to respond to. Most importantly, you need to be able to keep calm under pressure, make good decisions and take control.
The starting salary for Qualified Ambulance Technicians is £31,892 per annum, rising to £39,735 per annum. The starting salary for a Qualified Ambulance Paramedic is £39,912 per annum, rising to £48,635 per annum.
As a Qualified Ambulance Technician or Paramedic your pay scale would be selected based on any previous NHS Experience.
Vacancies are offered on a 24-hour shift basis and are referred to as “relief”. Relief is the working pattern that most new colleagues work and means that you will be given your shift pattern several weeks in advance, but it won’t always be the same shift pattern. It also means there are times when you will need to be flexible and work a changing shift pattern and work at other stations.
The Training
Joining us as a Qualified Ambulance Technician or Paramedic would mean that your training could be a condensed into a course of as little as 1 week. This would consist of a Clinical Induction Module delivered by the Education and Professional Development Department.

The Person
This is a hugely varied role, each day and each patient is different. As a result, you will need to have excellent interpersonal skills as well as an ability to communicate effectively with a range of different and often difficult circumstances. You will need to demonstrate flexibility and the ability to make effective and safe decisions.
We welcome applications form a range of backgrounds, however, previous experience as a Qualified Ambulance Technician or Paramedic is essential.

Due to the short time scales and the requirement to fill these vacancies all applicants must hold a C1 driving licence with no more than 4 penalty points. A CERAD (certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving) qualification or equivalent is preferred.
All candidates will be required to satisfy the following minimum entry requirements:
Evidence of qualifying as an Ambulance Technician or evidence of completion of an approved Paramedic qualification, including registration with the HCPC as a Paramedic.
Evidence of successful certificates must be produced at the fitness test stage
