Band 6; 37 hours – 18.5 hours Supported Discharge Team (Stroke) 18.5 hours Community Adult Service
We are delighted to be recruiting to this post which offers opportunity across two exciting areas of our service. This post is suitable for a current Band 6 SLT looking to develop a specialism or an existing Band 5/newly qualified SLT hoping opportunity to consolidate their skills with an adult client group and then progress to the Band 6 role (competence based). The successful applicant will be a dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist. Details of the post are noted below. There would also be potential opportunities to gain experience and develop skills in other areas of our service as part of our development programme.
The Supported Discharge Team is a multi-disciplinary team of AHPs supporting patients following stroke requiring intensive rehabilitation in their own homes. The team has been running for over 10 years and continues to be dynamic and friendly with a strong identity. You would be working alongside a Band 7 SLT to plan and deliver individualised therapy plans in line with the wider team’s goals, which are set in collaboration with the
patient. The team is well supported by AHP Assistant Practitioners and has excellent administrative support.
The Community Adult Service provides an extremely diverse service covering a wide range of clients ranging in age from 16 to 100+ and with a range of presenting conditions. Clients are seen in a range of settings including clinics, domiciliary and Care Homes. Both teams are based within the same location allowing for effective cross working and great interdisciplinary relationships.
The Aberdeen Health and Social Care Partnership SLT team also provide services to the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit, Neuro Rehabilitation Unit, Frailty pathway and a Grampian-wide Videofluoroscopy Service. We have a dysfluency service, a Parkinson’s specific pathway and Dementia Champions. The SLT team have a wide range of skills and experience and are friendly and supportive. An established supervision structure is in place for all team members. If not already undertaken, dysphagia training would be provided during the development period of these posts. It is essential to be a car driver for this role.
