Senior Community Nurse – Band 6

Location: Helensburgh & Lomond, NHS Highland

Salary: Band 6 (£39,912 – £48,635)

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Community Nurse to join our team in the beautiful Helensburgh & Lomond area. This is a key leadership position within the community nursing service, responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred care and supporting the development of a responsive, modern community service.

Main Responsibilities

· Manage a defined caseload, delivering nursing care in patients’ homes and community settings

· Provide clinical leadership and support to a team of community nurses

· Undertake complex assessments, care planning, and interventions using advanced clinical skills

· Collaborate effectively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care

· Promote evidence-based practice, service development, and quality improvement initiatives


Essential Criteria

· Registered Nurse with current NMC registration

· Must hold a Specialist Practitioner Qualification in District Nursing (SPQDN)
OR Hold the NES Graduate Diploma in Integrated Community Nursing including V300 Independent Prescribing/ working towards

· Proven experience in community nursing

· Excellent clinical assessment and decision-making skills

· Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes

Desirable Criteria

· Experience in clinical leadership or team management

· Involvement in quality improvement or change projects

· Competency with electronic health records and care planning systems

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
