Post: clinical Development fellow in trauma & orthopaedics
Based Between The Royal ALEXANDRA hospital, Paisley and Inverclyde royal Hospital, Greenock
Applicants are invited to apply for the above role as Clinical Development Fellow within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Team in Clyde. This post would be ideal for someone who has completed foundation training or equivalent and wishes to gain more experience before applying for specialty training. Applicants must have recent experience working in a surgical specialty at FY2+ level, and be able to demonstrate that they have successfully completed Immediate Life Support (ILS) training.
The successful applicant will balance their predominantly ward based clinical practice with protected time for teaching activities/professional development. There are opportunities available to develop and deliver teaching to medical students for candidates with an interest in medical education.
The Orthopaedic Unit in Clyde is based between the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and Inverclyde Royal Hospital. The trauma unit is in the Royal Alexandra Hospital and takes acute inpatient and day case trauma. Inpatient elective services are provided at Inverclyde Royal Hospital and trauma and elective outpatients are seen at both hospitals.
The appointee will be assigned a Clinical/Educational Supervisor. Regular meetings with the supervisor will take place throughout the post to develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP) based on their previous experience and support them in meeting their goals.
These successful applicant will contribute to the junior out-of-hours rota in the department and attract the out-of-hours pay supplement. The rota at the Royal Alexandra Hospital is resident on-call, currently shared between 10 junior doctors and incorporates internal cover for annual and study leave. The post will also involve rotation, for a set number of weeks, to Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
This post does not have educational approval from the Postgraduate Dean and will not be recognised for training by NES. This post requires PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
To practise medicine in the UK you need to hold both GMC full registration and a Licence to Practise and must have completed foundation or equivalent training.
