We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to take on the exciting role of working within the Surgical Directorate.
Ward 5C is our Acute surgical assessment ward. This is a busy ward which receives direct admissions for a wide range of specialties including General Surgery, Vascular, Colorectal, Upper GI and Urology.
We are looking for a motivated and organised nurse who has excellent communication and clinical skills to meet the needs of this busy environment. Experience in Surgical Nursing is desirable, however training and clinical skills teaching can be provided. The successful candidate must have a positive approach to an ever changing busy environment, a desire to work with the team towards quality improvement and be adaptable to meet the demands of the service and the requirements of the team.
An ability to assess and thoroughly admit patients is a vital part of this role, with the opportunity to gain experience in Triaging patient’s at the point of arrival. Some experience in Co-ordinating a shift would be desirable but not vital as this can later be a part of continuous development. Leading by example and promoting a professional, supportive, compassionate and caring environment is paramount to this position.
The successful candidate will be required to help promote a culture of continuous improvement where the patient and families/carers are at the heart of the care we deliver.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
