Job Title: Locum Consultant Breast Surgeon

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, part time (20 hours per week) post, primarily based in St Johns Hospital but could be asked to work at other Lothian sites.


This is a locum consultant post for a duration of at least 12 months and the successful candidate would work in a dynamic multidisiplinary breast unit with an international reputation. The unit has a strong research ethos and has been awarded Breakthrough Research Centre Status. There are good opportunities for participation in research through Edinburgh University.



The job plan consists of 9 PAs direct clinical care and 1 SPA although this will be negotiable depending on the skilss of the successful candidate. There would be an on-call commitment of approximately 1:8 to cover the breast unit. There is no general surgery on call.
