Entry Criteria for a Specialist Doctor
A doctor appointed to this grade:
- shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council; and
- shall have completed a minimum of 10 years’ medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years’ experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted;
- shall meet the criteria set out in the Specialist grade generic capabilities framework.
Applications are invited from enthusiastic candidates to join a well-established community child and adolescent mental health team in West Lothian. We would welcome applicants who would like to work a range of timetables and are very supportive of flexible working and less than full time (LTFT) job plans.
Post Summary:
- In collaboration with multidisciplinary team to provide a mental health service for children (0-18 age range) with mental health problems referred to Tier 3 services.
- To provide clinical supervision to higher and core trainees
- To participate in audit of the clinical services for which you work.
- To play a role in the implementation of Lothian’s Joint Strategy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and the CAMHS development strategy.
- To provide reciprocal cover for medical colleagues during periods of annual, professional, or short-term sick leave.
- To undertake duties as an Approved Medical Practitioner under the terms of the Mental Health Care and Treatment (Scotland) Act 2003
- To undertake duties for the wider service in accordance with agreed job plan
- Other duties arising from time to time in consultation with the Clinical Director and Clinical Service Manager.
