Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner
0.57 WTE 23.5 hours / Permanent
Please note: As this post is part-time the salary will be pro-rata.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic physiotherapy assistant practitioner to join our Acute Medical Physiotherapy service. This team is focused on providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients within our Acute Medicine wards 26 and 27 within the WGH site. The key aim is to enable individuals to maximise their potential to as independent physical function as possible following acute illness.
As a physiotherapy assistant practitioner you will be allocated a delegated patient caseload by the qualified physiotherapist. For your caseload and when relevant you will be expected to work independently, assessing the patient's needs, modifying treatment plans, and delivering this care without supervision. This will include progressing patients, reassessing and discharging within scope of practice. Full engagement with the multidisciplinary team on your ward is another key part of this position.
You will also support the physiotherapy team through a range of non-clinical duties, from equipment ordering, referring patients to primary care teams, to assisting with statistical information collation for patient activity audit purposes. You may also be involved in assisting with support of band 3 physiotherapy support workers.
The range of conditions encountered and requirement for excellence in clinical reasoning and team working in this post at the Western General will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a band 4 physiotherapy assistant practitioner.
Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.
Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience of work in a variety of clinical areas including acutely unwell patients, and will have relevant / current experience as a band 3 therapy support worker, or as a band 4 assistant practitioner.
