Dietetic Assistant Practitioner Band 4

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Lothian Renal Dietetic team as a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner based primarily at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This post provides a great opportunity to work with a team of specialist renal dietitians to provide a high quality, patient focussed service. The team of 5.5wte includes a Band 7 Advanced Dietetic Practitioner, Band 6 Specialist Dietitians, 1 rotational band 5 Dietitian and a Dietetic Assistant (this post).

The successful applicant will undertake clinical support, administrative duties, and project work to enable the delivery of a high-quality service to patients who are managed by the Renal Dietitians. This includes kidney and transplant in-patients, out-patients, vascular patients, and people on dialysis across the 3 acute hospital sites in Lothian.

There will be a focus on supporting the national kidney, pancreas and islet transplant services and patients on the dialysis unit. This will include a range of duties, including direct patient management and support, as well as group education, coordination of administration tasks as required. In addition, the post holder will support other tasks in support of the wider dietetic team as needed.

The post holder will have a SVQ Level 3/4 or HNC/HND in a health-related subject plus experience of working within health/social care/education settings. Good communication, organisation and IT skills including word processing and data inputting using Excel are essential. Training and clinical supervision will be provided.
