Pharmacy Support Worker – Aseptic/Cancer Services

We are looking for an enthusiastic motivated person to join our team, helping to provide the pharmacy service to cancer patients and the aseptic (sterile) unit. The position will be based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital Pharmacy department and will involve working in different areas within the pharmacy, as well as the cancer outpatient clinics and inpatient wards. This position is suited to an organised person who can work to deadlines and enjoys interaction with members of the public and healthcare staff.

The post will rotate through the dispensary and the pharmacy aseptic (sterile) unit, providing support to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. This will include dispensing chemotherapy and medicines for side effect management, stock control, co-ordinating medicines delivery, environmental monitoring, assembly and transfer of products for aseptic manufacture as well as administrative tasks.

Due to the critical and sensitive nature of our work you will need to meet the highest standards of discipline and personal hygiene. You must adhere to standard operating procedures and clean room behaviours at all times. Full Aseptic training will be provided.

Previous pharmacy experience is essential. We are looking for candidates who hold a dispensing assistant S/NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to complete a Level 2 Disclosure Scotland check.
