Due to secondment of the current post holder, Tayside Medical Science Centre (TASC) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated National Health Service Research Scotland (NRS) Research Manager to this exciting post on a fixed term basis for 1 year with possible option to extend to 31st March 2027.
The NRS Research Manager is responsible for the coordination and delivery of the local portfolio of clinical research activity within NHS Tayside. The NRS Research Manager also has national responsibility for 6 NRS Specialties; Oral and Dental, Metabolic and Endocrine, Hepatology, Genetics and Rare Diseases, Infectious Diseases and Anaesthesia, Perioperative Medicine and Critical Care across Scotland, promoting activity and providing education and support to researchers within these Specialty areas. They manage a small team (1.4wte) of administrative staff and are a member of the senior management team in TASC.
They have day to day responsibility for monitoring activity on a wide portfolio of studies, working with a range of local and national stakeholders and will act proactively to address areas where study start up or recruitment is sub optimal and come up with practical solutions to address those. They will manage the recruitment metrics and reporting of these both locally and nationally for their portfolio of studies, linking into other national research priorities as required.
The successful candidate will be educated to at least Master’s level, with relevant previous research experience, and have a proven track record of managing professional staff, be well organised and will have good communication and interpersonal skills along with the ability to motivate and lead staff. The ability to work flexibly and travel across Scotland and UK as required is essential to this role.
