CAITHNESS GENERAL HOSPITAL, WICK

CLINICAL FELLOW IN GERIATRIC MEDICINE

(Fixed term 12 months)

£45,504 - £60,199 per annum (2024 – 2025 Rates)

Applications are invited for this post in Geriatric Medicine. This post is to support the care of patients on our assessment and rehabilitation ward. This 21 bedded ward is a unique combination of general, stroke, and orthogeriatric rehabilitation, additionally we often provide more specialist rehabilitation for those with paraplegia or amputations, who want to have rehabilitation close to home.

We are a small 41 bed hospital, providing care to a population of 35,000 in a remote and area, as a small team we are often able to provide a degree of continuity of care of people living with frailty who may have recurrent admissions to hospital, and build relationships with them and their families which last throughout their journey with frailty.

As an extension to this, the postholder will also assist with front door frailty assessment and review of adults with longer predicted length of stay in the admissions ward.

You will have the opportunity to develop clinical skills aligned with geriatric medicine and to practice them regularly.

In addition to clinical management, we would expect you to develop other roles in the department, such as quality improvement or teaching.

The postholder will be welcomed into a friendly and forward-thinking team which values maintaining a supportive working environment.

Applicants must have full GMC registration with a licence to practice and at least two years full time postgraduate training (or equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis), or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.

Informal enquiries will be welcomed by Dr S Makin Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine (stephen.makin@nhs.scot) 07717774362
