Job Advert

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday. Hours will be flexible to meet the service requirements.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

The Discharge Lounge is open from 0800hrs – 2000hrs Monday to Friday including Public Holidays.

We are seeking a highly motivated person to be part of the Discharge Team GG&C working in the Discharge Lounges. This is a board wide post working between several Discharge Lounges.

The Discharge Lounge Service provides a safe comfortable waiting area for patients who are medically stable, awaiting discharge or transfer. The service allows optimum utilisation of beds without detrimental effects to patient care. The patients are cared for by Registered Nurses and a Health Care Support Worker. All nursing care required is provided for the patient during their stay.

The Health Care support Worker carries out direct patient care in support of, and supervised by, a Registered Nurse.

The purpose of the care is to:

  • To assist in an effective delivery of nursing care for patients and that an acceptable standard is maintained while awaiting discharge and transfer within the Discharge Lounge.
  • Provide, through Divisional policies and procedures, a safe and supportive environment for patients.
  • Ensure effective day-to-day management of resources including supplies, equipment, etc.
