Development opportunity to become a Band 6 SCPNH Nurse.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Argyll and Bute HSCP School Health service to a recruit an experienced SCPHN School Nurse who is committed to leading service change and embedding best practice. As a School Nurse you will also need to show you are clinically effective, a sound decision maker and the ability to manage change.
You will require knowledge and experience of systems such as GIRFEC, Child Protection and Care Experienced processes and be an effective communicator with children, parents and families, colleagues as well as Multi-agency partners including Education, Social work, third sector etc.
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay locality to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Under the management and supervision of the Child Health Manager your responsibilities will include leadership, managing and supporting the ongoing team development to fulfil the key functions of School Nursing; undertake caseload management and line management responsibilities of staff.
You will have responsibility to support the CHM in ensuring quality assurance, standards compliance, professional, regulation, responding to complaints, staff governance Clinical Supervision, Line Management, Supervision legislative frameworks national and board policy/ guidelines implementation.
As a School Nurse you should also demonstrate excellent interpersonal & communicative skills and the ability to be adaptable and flexible.
You will demonstrate leadership skills and have the ability to provide professional leadership to colleagues across School health teams.
Evidence must be provided of keeping up to date in SCPHN school nursing practice issues and maintain awareness of developments in School Nursing and make changes to clinical practice as required. This is an exciting time as we maximise the School Nursing contribution and work toward implementing the specialist pathway to improve outcomes of Children and Young People (5-19 years).
You will join an established team with a good skill mix and will contribute to the ongoing development of School Nursing across Argyll and Bute.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
