Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

Applications are welcome for the above, part-time post, 9 programmed activities, based at the Chalmers Centre, Edinburgh and Borders Sexual Health, Health Centre, Galashiels.

Post Summary:
This is a part-time post within two established teams which has arisen through partial retirement and reorganisation of the consultant team. The main duties are to provide specialist expertise in genitourinary and HIV medicine as part of integrated clinical sexual and reproductive health in the fully integrated Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Health and Borders Sexual Health Services. The post holder will be employed by NHS Lothian, with an agreed regular commitment to NHS Borders of 2 PAs, delivered over in one day per week under a Service Level Agreement. There is an excellent rail link from central and south Edinburgh to within 3 minutes walk of the service in Galashiels. There are ample opportunities for service improvement, management, research and teaching within both services and it is anticipated that the appointee will take on additional duties according to skills and areas of interest, with appropriate recognition within the job plan.

A final job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate on appointment and will be reviewed according to educational and service needs. There is no on-call commitment or pager with this post. Usual clinical commitments are 5 or 6 face-to-face clinics per week, with appropriate time provided for other training and educational commitments and for travel from the main base at Chalmers.
