We have a temporary opportunity for a Specialist Orthoptist to join our team in NHS Fife to provide cover for maternity leave. The Orthoptic service delivers wide ranging clinical assessments and treatments to paediatric and adult patients, including those attending Ophthalmology clinics.

A service is also provided to other medical teams such as Maxillofacial, Stroke and Neurology. We also screen as part of the ‘See4school’ Orthoptic led screening service. The department operates across two hospital sites as well as providing a community orthoptic service and a certain amount of travel across sites should be expected. Opportunities to be involved in teaching of hospital staff/pre reg. Optometrists are available and research/audit is actively encouraged with a focus on providing evidence based care supported through regular in-service training within the department.

You will be supported with mentoring and perceptorship as required. You must hold a diploma/degree in Orthoptics and be registered with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Fife is situated within a commutable distance from Edinburgh and the central belt of Scotland.
