Who We Are

As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.

We have six regional centres – Aberdeen, Dundee, South Queensferry, Hillington, Cardonald and Clydebank. NHS 24 supports hybrid working, and this post can be based within any NHS 24 regional centres. The successful candidate must be within commuting distance to a regional centre to attend if required and must also be able to travel to other regional centres when requested to attend meetings, undertake training and any other activities.

The Role

The post holder will have specific responsibility for supporting the development and implementation of the NHS 24 Quality Management Framework 2023-26 working in partnership with a broad range of Health Care partners (such as Health board primary care organisations, A&E units and SAS).

This involves operational support of Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance/ Management activities across the patient journey, supporting the implementation of the NHS Scotland Healthcare Quality Strategy through the implementation of the Clinical Governance and agenda; managing national programmes, organisational Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance/Management activities; leading investigations and identifying opportunities for organisational learning and quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Regional responsibility for implementation and development of Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance/Management activities alongside:

  • Supporting strategy development and implementation within sphere of responsibility by making proposals for policy and service changes to support improvements in clinical governance and quality.
  • Supporting the provision of detailed and highly specialised Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance/Management advice to other health care professionals to positively influence the delivery of care.
  • Representing the Clinical Governance Team and provide specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience at national/central groups and as a key stakeholder in the development of organisational services.
  • Proactively analysing and utilising complex data to identify and evidence areas for continuous improvement and develop initiatives to support and drive the quality agenda. Explore highly complicated data to develop and present a range of options for the progression of Clinical Governance activities. Design systems of data capture to facilitate measurement and provide evidence of improvement.

Successful Applicant will:

  • Hold a First degree or equivalent extensive professional knowledge of Clinical Governance or Quality Assurance/Management and utilisation of complex data analytics.
  • Have highly developed inter-personal, facilitation, and influencing skills
  • Possess experience in two or more of the following areas: Quality Assurance/Management Systems, Clinical Audit, Risk Management, Clinical Effectiveness, Research & Development, or Standards Review and/or development.
