NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for an AHP Support Worker to join the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, Orthopaedic Teams and contribute to the provision of a seven day service within the Orthopaedic unit at Ninewells Hospital. The Orthopaedic unit is a busy receiving centre for all trauma in Tayside, alongside elective admissions for joint replacements. It is crucial that therapy is provided over seven days to aid capacity and flow and to ensure enhanced recovery pathways are optimised. There is also ongoing development of a joint school which is part of the enhanced recovery pathway post joint replacement to facilitate timely discharge.

Working with both the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Teams you will be allocated a delegated patient caseload work, assessing the patient's care needs, within an agreed assessment and treatment protocol and/or modifying existing treatment plans as appropriate. This includes progressing patient treatment plans, reassessing and discharging within the agreed scope of practice, being guided by evidence based protocols where available. The role will be based across hospital and Dundee community settings. The role will involve participation in service development activities and continued professional development will be supported within the team. You will also undertake administrative and housekeeping duties as required..

Previous experience within Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy services in a care setting is essential. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Teamwork is an essential component of this post. IT skills are highly desirable.

Allied Health Professions are moving to 7 day working and this post will require some weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care.

For this post, you can expect to be fully supported through our established system of personal development planning and training programmes. We have a strong commitment to MDT working, clinical governance, CPD and evidence based practice.

Please let us know if you wish to discuss assistance with reimbursement of relocation expenses if you require to relocate to Tayside.
