Post: Consultant in Orthodontics
Salary: £111430 - £148,064
Hours: 24 hpw,
Base: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary/Glasgow Dental Hospital
Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Consultant in Orthodontics working 6 sessions per week. This is a post based at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with occasional clinical commitments to the west of the region in Stranraer, at the Galloway Community Hospital.
The Consultant will provide a diagnostic and advisory service to patients referred to the Orthodontic Department based at DGRI. This post will be mainly focused on the interdisciplinary management of Dentofacial/Craniofacial as well as Hypodontia patients.
The postholder will share with Consultant colleagues’ responsibility for the correct functioning of the Department. The Consultant will contribute to the professional supervision and management of the Training Grade staff.
An MCN in Orthodontics has been established in Dumfries and Galloway which includes 2 Specialist Practices located in Dumfries and a Specialist Practice located in Ayr. It is anticipated that the Consultant would take on-board the role of Clinical Lead of the MCN.
The region offers beautiful countryside, from rugged cliffs and sandy beaches to forests, hills and rolling plains. There is a wide range of activities on offer, with watersports, fishing, birdwatching, golf, mountain-biking or cycling along the network of rural roads and much more. House prices are low, schools are good and you are within 2 hours of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Lake District and Newcastle.
Prospective candidates will require to be on the GMC Specialist Register.
