NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is for Glasgow Caledonian University Environmental Management students beginning 3rd year in
September 2025 only.
The Sustainability Placement will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), but will cover all sites across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. You will be involved with the implementation of the sustainability strategy and assist in the development of the sustainability communications campaign for all sustainable development related issues and topics.
You will also contribute to the development of sustainability working group objectives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Board Annual Delivery Objectives. This will require meeting with departments across the whole organisation and supporting the sustainability team on compliance and sustainable development projects, where appropriate.
It is essential you are working towards a relevant environmental management or science degree with student membership of a relevant organisation, such as IEMA or CIWEM. Prior work experience is essential. The hours of this post are worked Monday to Friday as part of a 37 hour week
