Band 3 Orthopaedic Supported Discharge Team
Health Care Support Worker
37 hours (Shift work 11.5 hour days including weekends, NO nights)

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic health care support worker (HCSW) to join our Orthopaedic Supported Discharge Team. This team is focussed on providing supported discharge rehabilitation from orthopaedic/major trauma hospital wards, followed by assessment and treatment within patient’s home environment for up to 4 weeks.
*You will be required to drive to complete visits in Edinburgh City area. Business car insurance is required for this role.
As a HCSW, you will be allocated visits to complete each shift. You will be expected to work independently and alongside team members, attend to the patient's needs, facilitate functional rehab treatment plans, and delivering care as required without supervision. This will include progressing patients with functional tasks such as meals & washing/dressing, then reporting progress back to senior staff members. Full engagement with the multidisciplinary team is another key part of this position.
You will also support the physiotherapist/occupational therapist and nurse through a range of non-clinical duties, from equipment ordering and referring patients to community teams.
Shifts within OSD team are 11.5 hours. You will complete 3 shifts per week but for 1 week each month you will complete 4 shifts.
Candidates must display evidence of clinical experience of work in a variety of areas ideally including Orthopaedics and will have relevant/current experience as a band 3 support worker.
