The shift pattern for this post is 32 hours per week.

Applications are invited for Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry who have completed CCT or are within 6 months of doing so with Section 22 AMP status.

Join our dynamic Older Adult Mental Health team at Ward 38, Royal Alexandria Hospital (RAH), Paisley, part of Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Scotland's largest health board. This role includes quality improvement, teaching, training, and research opportunities. It features 8.5 compressed sessions combining community, inpatient roles, and liaison. The CMHT, acute psychiatry beds, and general hospital beds are located at RAH, Paisley, with 1 HBCCC ward (East Ward) at Dykebar Hospital, 2.5 miles from RAH.

There is expectation to be part of the South Glasgow rota on-call (1:25 at least). The on-call almost always has a second on higher trainee up to 3am each day.

The successful applicant will play a key role in clinical leadership of the CMHT and inpatient wards, diagnosing and managing those with severe and enduring mental health conditions in older adult, including some young onset dementia patients, supported by consultant psychiatry colleagues and the wider MDT.

This is a flexible working pattern post but applications will be considered for those wishing to work less sessions. There also may be option for additional EPA depending on service requirement which would be agreed through job planning.

The successful applicant will play a key role in clinical leadership of the CMHT, liaison and inpatient wards which are based both at RAH and Dykebar sites diagnosing and managing those with severe and enduring mental health conditions in older adult supported by consultant psychiatry colleagues and the wider MDT.

There is a strong collegiate network within Renfrewshire HSCP and the wider GG&C Old Age Psychiatry team with frequent and high quality CPD including not only old age psychiatry colleagues but also neurology and neuroradiology colleagues where there is opportunity to bring and discuss complex cases. There is a GG&C old age psychiatry Division of which this post is part. Further opportunities exist to be part of the wider OPMH Board wide Strategy looking to enhance and develop the service.
