Are you a dedicated nurse or midwife currently employed in a substantive Band 5–7 post within NHS Lothian or NHS Borders? If so, we invite you to apply to join our Staff Bank and enjoy the flexibility and variety it offers.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply, you must:
- Hold a current substantive post with NHS Lothian or NHS Borders
- Be applying for the same role and band as your current position
- Have successfully completed your probation period
- Applying to join the Staff Bank means you are applying for a role equivalent to your current substantive post. If your substantive role requires a valid PVG, please ensure you already hold one before submitting your application.
Applications from individuals not meeting these criteria will not be considered.

What You’ll Need to Apply
Please have the following details ready:
- Your current NHS Lothian or NHS Borders payroll number
- Your National Insurance number
- Your PVG number, date of issue and whether its for Adult, Child or Both
These will be used to verify your employment status during the application process.
This post is only for existing nursing and midwifery staff Bands 5 - 7 within NHS Lothian & NHS Borders wishing to join the Staff Bank, you must have a current role within one of these Boards to apply for this vacancy, this will be checked as part of your application process.
Please have your current substantive NHS Lothian or NHS Borders Payroll number and National Insurance number to hand when applying as you will need to provide this as part of your application. This will be used to evidence your current employment status within one of these Boards.
